These works draw on the symbolic weight of food as a source of nourishment, as an indication of vitality, and a place of exchange. Shifted to perform new roles and gestures, the edible items and objects of food preparation become hybrid forms, each the ingredients and recipes of a still life, intrinsically linked their inevitable decay.
Many of these works were conceived as social media snacks. Sometimes related to larger bodies of work in development, sometimes simply related to my #currentmood, they are meant to be a quick art fix for short attention spans. But they also propose that the spaces we inhabit are the spaces we consume. We eat what we are.
